WHAT CROHN’S IS

Crohn’s is a chronic disease involving abnormal immune-system reactions and inflammation in the digestive tract. It most commonly affects the small intestine and beginning of the large intestine but may affect any part of the digestive tract.

CROHN’S AND ULCERATIVE COLITIS

Both are inflammatory bowel diseases. They differ in location and inflammation pattern. Diagnosis belongs with clinicians using the full record.

HOW DIAGNOSIS MAY WORK

Doctors may use history, examination, blood and stool tests, endoscopy, and imaging. The same symptoms may have multiple causes.

TREATMENT GOALS

NIDDK states there is no single way to treat every person. Goals include lowering inflammation, preventing flares, and maintaining remission. Care decisions belong with your team.
